My name is
Bruce "Kaka" Barnes and I have been
a serious student of Nile Valley
history, culture and civilization
since 1987 when I received a copy of
Dr. Chancellor Williams’ master
piece “The Destruction of Black
Civilization” as a Kwanzaa gift.
This gift along with an audio tape
entitled “The Master Keys” by Dr.
Asa G. Hilliard, III sent me on my
path to discover the glories that
were birthed in the ancient Nile
Valley. With my interest
peaked, I shared my culminated
knowledge with my close friends, a
group of combat Viet Nam veterans,
who ran a homeless shelter for
veterans. Together in the
early 1990’s we formed the Ancient
African History Class which
emblazoned the community with
knowledge of their history, heritage
and cultural legacy.
The class grew
to over 200 hundred participants
with a youth component and brought
to Pittsburgh the likes of Dr. John
Henrik Clarke, Anthony T. Browder,
Doc Yosef Ben Jochannan, Dr. Wade
Nobles, Dr. Ivan Van Sertima, Dr.
Maulana Karenga just to name a few.
2001 saw myself
travel to Kemet with Anthony T.
Browder, my first of two trips to
the Land of the Blacks, to see first
hand the remnants of all that I have
been studying. In and effort to
share my knowledge of Nile Valley
history, culture and civilization
with as many sisters and brothers as
possible, I became a community cable
access television producer in 2003.
